Forestal y Ganadera Monte Alto Ltda., own 64.539 ha of lands, distribuited
in 40.236 ha of commercial or productive forest, 4.301 ha of prairies used by cattle, and the rest of
20.002 ha of land are for shelter and recreational uses.
Our silvicultural model
Our forest policy is very simply: we harvest just the yearly growth of forest. In this way,
we assure both environmental and economical sustainability.
From a lot of studies done by Universidad de Chile, we estimate our harvest capacity around of 35.000
m3/year in a sustainable way, however, currently, we log only 24.000 m3/year, and therefore, year by
year the accumulated volume rise up.
The silvicultural model applied by MONTE ALTO, is adjusted to the shelter silvicultural system, defined
both in the literatura and by law, as the rigth way for managing this forests. This model assure a
continuous and indefined flow of saw logs.
